Julie Murfitt
How I got here:
“Growing up, everyone predicted I would be a secretary (it must have been all those term papers I typed for everyone). From my first position at Bond, Schoeneck & King as a legal secretary, I always wanted to learn as many new computer software programs as I could. The legal field didn’t have enough upward mobility, so I became an executive secretary to the Vice President of Finance at Dairylea, and then eventually was promoted to administrative assistant to Craig Buckhout. He offered me the opportunity to become an employee of Rockbridge over 20 years ago, and it was the best decision I ever made.”
Favorite part of the job:
“Believe it or not, I enjoy the day-to-day processes and streamlining them for more efficiency, leaving me time to help improve our interactions with clients. I love lists and being able to check things off of them! I also strive to give clients (and my co-workers) a high level of service that I, myself, expect in life. We are a close-knit group at Rockbridge and coming to work every day is more of a pleasure than a job.”
Education:
Tompkins Cortland Community College (AAS Secretarial Science)
Beneath the surface:
Julie and her husband Tom live in Fabius and have three grown children – the oldest is now married with two sons, and Julie and Tom are thrilled to be grandparents. They love the outdoors (you should see the tree house Tom built), and gathering with friends and family. They are enjoying this chapter in their lives, with Tom retiring after 22 years as a Detective for the Syracuse PD, and helping their children become successful adults.
